Phil Spencer: Putting Conker in Project Spark “Doesn’t Keep Us from Doing Other Things with Conker”

We’ve covered the free to play Project Spark, which is essentially a game creation platform coming to PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. During the flurry of information at this year’s E3 expo, Microsoft confirmed that Conker of Conker’s Bad Fur Day would be available for the game.

However, a recent exchange between a fan and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has given some fans of Conker the squirrel some hope that a new game might not be that far off or unreasonable.

A fan asked the question over on Twitter:

“Hi Phil saw after conker Only Project Spark is there any chance that in the future we see Conker with his own game?”

To which Spencer replied:

Giving Spark Community the Conker game assets doesn’t keep us from doing other things with Conker.”

So there you go. It could be chalked up to Phil just throwing Conker fans a bone, especially after many of them were upset after the reveal/handling of the series at the conference.

Lastly, I’d like to say that my gut is telling me that Microsoft could very well be considering a new Conker game, or even just a reboot, if their recent greenlighting of Phantom Dust reboot, the criminally underrated Xbox game.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Rare games and most especially Conker’s Bad Fur Day, as it was a game that pushed the boundaries of censorship even as an exclusive on a Nintendo platform. At the time, Nintendo was typically associated with being “family friendly,” and some even say that to this day.
